What gets reviewed

Six places where employers are most often exposed

The audit works through each of these against the LRA, BCEA, EEA and OHSA, and records what we find in writing.

Employment contracts

Whether every employee has a written contract, whether it reflects what they actually do, and whether fixed-term and independent contractor arrangements would survive scrutiny.

Policies and disciplinary code

Whether the rules exist in writing, whether they cover current risks such as AI use, remote work and social media, and whether staff can be shown to have received them.

Payroll and statutory registrations

SARS, UIF, SDL and Compensation Fund registrations, along with hours, overtime, deductions and leave against the BCEA.

Record keeping

The registers and records an employer is required to keep, and whether they would stand up to a Department of Employment and Labour inspection without notice.

Discipline and dismissals

Past warnings, hearings and dismissals reviewed for consistency, procedure and the paper trail that would be needed at arbitration.

Health and safety

OHSA appointments, required notices and the basic safety obligations that are most often missed by smaller employers.

Fixed fee

Priced on your headcount, agreed before we start

No hourly billing and no open-ended scope. The fee is fixed for the band your business falls into and covers the review, the report and the accompanying documents.

It comes off your retainer

If you take up any OptiHR monthly retainer within 60 days of receiving your audit report, half the audit fee is credited against your first invoices. The audit is designed to tell you what you need, not to sell you something you do not.

What you receive

A report you can act on, not a list of problems

01

Written report

What is working, what is not, and the legal basis for each finding, in plain language rather than legislative citations.

02

Prioritised risk list

Every finding ranked by exposure, so you know what to fix this month and what can wait until next year.

03

Action plan

A step-by-step remediation plan with an owner and a sequence, sized to what your business can realistically do.

04

Ready-to-use documents

The contracts, policies, registers and forms needed to close the gaps, drafted for your business and ready to issue.

Turnaround

Ten working days from the date we receive your documents. The review is done remotely by default; on-site is available in Pretoria and Johannesburg where the records are easier to work through in person. The debrief is a scheduled call or meeting, not just an emailed report.

Start with the audit
